Parks & Nature
The National Arboretum is a underappreciated green space in DC. There's plenty of acreage for pups to play and lots of space to hike or walk. The Capitol Columns in the center o the park are quite a feature to behold and a uniquely DC combination of art and history.
From the top of the hill you can see DC and the Capitol. Or stop by the Bonsai museum or wander the Azaleas. If the weather is nice, the grove of State Trees is good for a picnic.

The NoMa metro stop is the closest subway to my place. It's a ~10 minute walk and will get you to downtown DC in about 10 more minutes after the train comes.
