You can not stay on Belgium without trying the most Belgian food: Friet! There are many good ‘friet koten’ around but our favourite is Koningsfrietje.
Small anecdote: The owner of this place is Willem De Coninck, which means ‘Willem The King’ and Willem was a famous Dutch King in who reigned this region a long time ago. Now hear me out, Willem has two brothers: Pieter, named after the famous guy whi was at the roots of Flanders (check ‘gulden sporen slag’), and Boudewijn, named after the Belgian king untill a decade or so ago.
Never underestimate the power of a mother with a sense of history ;)
