Stephansdom
Vienna's Imperial Palace, the Hofburg, was for centuries the seat of the Habsburgs, rulers of Austria until the end of WWI. A great deal of European history was written here, in particular by Empress Maria. Today it's the official seat of the Austrian Head of State, the Federal President.
The complex is particularly interesting as its major buildings reflect more than 700 years of architectural history; nearly every Austrian ruler since 1275 ordered additions or alterations. As a result, the Hofburg shows many different architectural styles, from Gothic to Renaissance, Baroque to Rococo, and a smattering of Classicism.

Innere Stadt
Baroque architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663–1736). One of Europe’s most stunning Baroque landmarks: Upper and Lower Belvedere and an extensive garden. Today the Belvedere houses the greatest collection of Austrian art dating from the Middle Ages to the present day, many original Klimt-paintings. Great view over the city centre. From the balcony of this castle the Austrian 2nd Republic was proclaimed in 1955 following the peace treaty with the Allies after WW II, with the famous historic words "Austria is free!".

There are contemporary museums (Leopold Museum, Mumok, Kunsthalle, Zoom-children's museum), the cool MQ Shop, an experimental theatre (Halle E & G), cool vibe with trendy cafes and restaurants. In summer it's a nice place to hang out and chill and also in the night you can have a drink here. Sometimes there are events like live music, DJs, readings etc...
