Foy’s is probably the absolute closest eating spot to the apartment, and has one of the loveliest views. Walk down High St towards the water, and about 100 metres from the building you’ll find a little walkway and set of stairs that will take you straight down to the water end of Milson Park below. Foy’s is then across the bottom of the park on McDougall St. Set in a newly renovated and reopened flying squadron yacht club right on picturesque Careening Cove, Foy’s has a full modern australian menu and a comprehensive drinks menu. Try to get a spot out on the balcony to watch the ferries go by. Open Tuesday-Sunday, noon-10pm, with live music from 6pm on Thursdays.

Celcius Coffee is in a truly fantastic spot, perched literally over the water at Kirribilli Ferry Wharf. From the apartment you can either walk across Milson Park and around the back streets to the wharf, or get on a ferry at the end of High St and take the scenic route - it’s the third stop. From there you can get on another ferry and keep going to Circular Quay, or come one stop back to High St (North Sydney). Anvil does great coffee, breakfasts and lunches, and are open Monday-Friday 7:30-2:30, and 8am-3pm on the weekends. Phone 9922 2245 www.celciuscoffeeco.com.au

Ripples Milsons Point is a unique place to eat in Sydney, and only a 10 minute walk from the apartment, down underneath the Bridge. MacCallum Pool is a bit of a northside secret - it’s a saltwater harbour pool with heritage features set literally into the sandstone of the harbour wall. Here you can have a dip with truly spectacular harbour views, and/or picnic on the grassy promenade of Cremorne Walk next to the pool. Being a harbour pool it needs to be drained and cleaned once a week, which means it’s closed for a few hours on some days. It’s worth checking the council website just to make sure you don’t go at an unlucky time of the week! http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/recreation_facilities/places_of_interest/maccallum_pool

Kirribilli Markets are also definitely worth a visit – they’re on up at the Burton St Tunnel (which runs under the railway near the station).
