If you're willing to drive a bit, you'll find some fun restaurants with local flavors and culture. Unfortunately, there is a limited selection in the area, and the choices change from time to time. It's always a good idea to call ahead just to make sure they're still in business or haven't changed their serving hours.

Open til 9 PM on weekdays -- 10 PM on weekends. Food is purely comfort food -- try the fried pies!

Quigley`s Castle is the dream home of Elise Quigley (1910-1984). Her grandchildren invite visitors to wander through her perennial garden of over 400 varieties of flowers.
The Garden paths wind around secluded benches, a lily pond and bird baths up to her home which she beautifully covered with stones she'd collected since childhood.
See how she found a way to sleep in tree tops full of bloom. Tropical plants grow in the natural soil of the first floor and brush the ceiling of the second floor. She has a butterfly, fossil, crystal, arrowhead and glassware collection beyond imagination.

In 1993, the Prier family of Golden, MO, took over the Trail of Tears Museum Collection and combined it with their eclectic collections (including Carnival Glass, pocket watches, baseball cards, guns, lunch boxes, rose bowls, and Civil War battlefield items) to create the Golden Missouri Pioneer Museum. Dogwood Canyon Nature Park
2038 State Hwy 86The 6.5 mile paved walking trail guides you past limestone bluffs and tumbling waterfalls, over bridges formed of native stone or hand-crafted wrought iron, and a covered bridge of Amish construction. Rainbow trout swim in clear spring-fed waters, easily visible as you pass by. Native Ozark wildlife can be seen throughout the wilderness park as you walk or hike on the many trails available. Admission fee.
Fishermen love Roaring River State Park because it is stocked with rainbow trout. The park has seven hiking trails, a swimming pool, picnic tables and a nature center. If you dare to wade in the river, take water shoes because the bottom is rocky, but the water is super cold and refreshing!
