Sightseeing
In addition to seeing the artistry of taxidermy, the Fuchs Family offers an incredible museum of preserved animals from around the world. Very much worth stopping by. If Bill or Linda are around, they usually share amazing stories of their hunts and trophies.

Just moments from our home! If you go back out to Rt 64, (otherwise known as the Highlands Rd), and turn right you will drive up into the mountain and enjoy 4 very different and beautiful waterfalls along the way. First is Cullasaja Falls (a quick pull off on the right side of the road), "Bust Your Butt Falls" (great for sliding!), Bridal Veil Falls and Dry Falls (huge!). If you enjoy gem mining, you'll pass Jackson Hole and for a day of exploring and swimming and easy hiking come on back to Cliffside Lake with a picnic lunch.

Good sales, sells wine and a liquor store is in that same shopping center. Macon County is basically a dry state as the restaurants cannot sell liquor but you can buy it and, in most cases, carry it into a restaurant. To get sale prices give them our home phone number in place of a Bi-Low card 8283692275.

The most fun you can have with a $4 tube! Take a picnic lunch and spend the day climbing the mountain and tubing down. Fun for those who are mostly 6 or older. Horseback riding and hiking also in the same area. In Bryson City which is about 50 minutes from Franklin, just past the Cherokee exit. So much fun!

Main street in downtown Franklin is FULL of charming shops, eateries and antiques. That includes both stretches of the "one way" roads that lead both in and then out of town. Every Saturday night, from summer through the fall, is "Pickin' on the Square" with authentic local talent. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy the true heritage of the mountains!

Incredible food! We keep a menu in the kitchen drawer so that you can get an idea of their offering. Oddly enough, it's attached to the "Hot Spot" gas station on Depot St. You're welcome to bring in a bottle of your own wine and they only take cash or checks. Must haves include the crab bisque and the 8 layer home made chocolate cake! Although it's extremely casual, I would recommend it as an adult eatery.
