Catch the ferry boat out to the mouth of the river and walk back- or vice versa. Beautiful views from the river and in the summer the castle hosts Shakespeare week. You can also pay to tour inside the castle if you wish, or simply sit at the cafe and admire the view for free.
Walk up the steps behind the castle and follow he path down to Sugery Cove which is a quiet pebbly free beach- dog friendly.
Parking is free if you take the upper road at the junction.

If you don’t want to pay to go on he train or in the butterfly farm, you can park for free, but an ice cream or have a coffee in the cafe and watch the trains come and go- our grandchildren love it!

A nice day out is to park for free near Paignton Leisure centre, and cross the road to the beach and follow the coastal path to Brixham.
Get fish and chips and sit by the harbour.
Get your tickets for the ferry from Brixham to Torquay (£2.50 single or £3 return), then catch the bus back to Paignton (£3).
The ferry won’t run in bad weather, so best check before you leave home.
