West Hobart is located on the foot hills of Knocklofty Reserve. It is only a short 15 minute walk or 5 minuted drive from the city centre. The neighbourhood is considered to be one of the best in Hobart. It is lovely to walk the streets during the day and admire the beautiful character homes and slip into a cafe for a coffee or bite to eat. At night, it is only a short walk to the North Hobart restaurant strip. Local residents are very friendly.

Stop at Fern Tree and take a short walk along the Pipe Line Track and stop into the local Fern Tree Tavern for a hot drink by the fire. On the way stop at The Springs and take in the history of the area. 'Lost Freight' cafe is here- grab a coffee and pie to warm your bellies. At the top enjoy panoramic views of Hobart and beyond. Visit Service Tasmania for further details. Always look at the weather report- Bureau of Meteorology. Weather conditions can be dangerous with road closure. Pack warm clothes for the conditions.
