Uncle Joe’s Story - 315-781-1199 - 99 North Genesee Street, Geneva, NY 14456 Joe and Mary Lou purchased this building in 1961, but before Uncle Joe’s opened it’s doors it was home to a few other businesses over the years. Back in the 30’s and 40’s Van Tassel’s Grocery Store was located where our dining rooms are now. Our front lobby was a candy store called Penny Antie’s. Hanging on the wall as you enter is a sketch of Penny Antie. Penny Antie’s then became Noonan’s Liquor Store, which stayed until 1978 when Uncle Joe’s started. The grocery store side was rented by two hard working Italian boys who started a dry cleaning business called Sindoni’s Modern Cleaners. They stayed until it was time for Uncle Joe’s to make room for more customers. In 1981 an archway was put in the wall and room was made for more tables and booths. We added to the pizza and sub menu to include salads, chicken wings, calzones, etc. In 1985 Uncle Joe’s was still gaining in popularity as a favorite eating spot for Genevans and nice folks in the surrounding areas. So, we decided to remodel our “junk box folding room” into what is now our Victorian style dining room and we opened our kitchen to the public eye. Our customers were requesting spaghetti to go with our already popular meatballs and sauce, so we did it again , and added some pasta dishes. This brings us to the present day. All six children have been put through college, and two of our boys, John and Louie manage our ever increasing business. John is at Uncle Joe’s and Lou at our newest addition, Nonna’s Trattoria. Joe and Mary Lou don’t have to work as hard now but are still very involved in the businesses. We hope you have enjoyed our story. We are very interested to know if you enjoyed your food, service and atmosphere. Please feel free to comment. Your comments are welcomed and appreciated. As always our customer and friends are very important to us . Thank you for your Patronage The Cosentino Family Uncle Joe, Mary Lou, Bill, John, Rosemary, Susan, Louie and Karen I could go on as most are married with children but you want to get home tonight.

315-789-1638 - 1 Railroad Place, Geneva, NY 14456 In 1978 Marylou “Nonna” and Joe “Uncle Joe” Cosentino started a restaurant from scratch. The result was “Uncle Joe’s” which has grown from a one room pizzeria with a small assortment of pizza and subs to a full service restaurant. Uncle Joe’s “Geneva’s Oldest Pizzeria” has a fine selection of pizza, pasta, subs, salads and wings. In 1996 Joe and Marylou purchased the former Josephine’s and Alice’s restaurant and recreated it as Nonna Cosentino’s Trattoria. They continued serving the same homemade tomato sauce, hand rolled meatballs and fresh Italian bread made in the Uncle Joe’s bakery. Opening Nonna’s gave them the opportunity to provide more of the same quality, consistency and friendly atmosphere that they were known for and a wider variety of Italian cuisine. In 1991 Joe and Marylou’s oldest of six children Bill and his wife Nancy left their hometown of Geneva for Virginia Beach, VA. Bill continued his career as a civilian firefighter for the United States Government, which began at the Seneca Army Depot in 1984. They had a son Dominick and were offered an extraordinary opportunity to work at the Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily. Bill, Nancy and Dominick lived in Motta Sant’ Anastasia for five years. During their time there they formed a love for the families and friends they met as well as the Italian culture. After returning to the United States, Bill retired after 30 years of service as Assistant Fire Chief and decided to come home to Geneva and venture into the restaurant business to carry on the family tradition that Joe and Marylou started so many years ago. Today, the name has changed a bit but our customers can still expect the same quality and consistency. We welcome you and hope you find Cosentino’s Ristorante to be a delicious experience for you and your family. Mangia Bene! Thank you from Bill, Nancy, Dominick And the Staff at Cosentino’s

Friday Night on Linden Street Linden Street in Geneva has become ground zero for the booming wine, beer, spirit and chef-driven restaurant scene around Seneca Lake. We recently visited on a balmy summer Friday night and had a great time strolling and chatting with friends (old and new) and dining al fresco. F.L.X. Fry Bird We started the evening at one of the newest Linden Street destinations – F.L.X. Fry Bird, which is also the latest addition to Christopher Bates and Isabel Bogadtke’s growing arsenal of awesome! The vibe catches your attention the minute you walk-up, feeling more like something from New York City or Charleston (South Carolina), than Geneva. The space is wood and metal with touches of orange in the art and signage. There was plenty of outdoor seating right on Linden Street, and communal tables throughout the restaurant – including stools and counter top looking out the front window! As stated on the F.L.X. Fry Bird website, the team at this new destination is “bringing chicken sammis and waffles to another level.” The sandwiches are perfect as a meal, post-wine tour replenishment or late-night nosh (they are open past midnight!). The menu includes gluten free and vegetarian options, and you can add to the experience with “spiked slushys,” and a stellar beer (on tap, in cans and bottles) and wine list – select from the “mystery fridge” or purchase and open (no corkage fee) a bottle of wine from the new F.L.X. Provisions next door. We enjoyed a “dressed” chicken sandwich on a bun (pickles, tomato, lettuce and special sauce), French fries, Notorious chicken (watermelon, Chipotle mayo, cilantro and Siracha honey) on a waffle, and Napa Cabbage Slaw from the “Side Love” menu. The sandwich and sides were astounding, battered in cornmeal instead of traditional breadcrumbs. We are already planning a return visit. The Linden Social Club We were pretty full from dinner but decided to keep the night going with a stop at The Linden Social Club, the newest cocktail bar on the street. The highest compliment we can pay is that you can tell from second one in the bar what the owners – James-Emery Elkins, Craig Meyers and Joe Kennedy, were trying to accomplish – they succeeded. The space and staff are welcoming, and the vibe is lounge cool without pretense. Leather banquets, black tin tile ceiling, “Eastern” inspired art, and a copper metal topped bar in the center of the space. The music was a mix of 80’s new wave and French lounge which added a chill vibe to the atmosphere. We were there for the cocktails and tried a classic (the Aviation) and a local special (Seneca Spritz). Food is available with a Latin-theme, but we were not ready for another round of bites at that point. You can check out the cocktail and food menu here. The cocktails were excellent, we had a good chat with the bar staff, and took in the sites of a healthily eclectic crowd. All-in-All, we could not ask for a better evening in a charming and happening Finger Lakes street! There are plenty of other great places to visit while there: Microclimate Wine Bar; HJ Stead Co.; Finger Lakes Sausage and Beer; and F.L.X. Table. Details F.L.X.
