The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse protects one of the most hazardous sections of the Atlantic Coast. Offshore of Cape Hatteras, the Gulf Stream collides with the Virginia Drift, a branch of the Labrador Current from Canada. This current forces southbound ships into a dangerous twelve-mile long sandbar called Diamond Shoals. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States, measuring 198.49 feet from the base to the pinnacle of the tower. Two hundred and sixty-nine narrow stairs lead up to the lens room. Each flight of 31 stairs weigh 5,000 pounds each!

I can confidently say that their pizza and calazones are the best I have ever had, and their white pizza is excellent and isn’t even on the menu!
