The Outlet trail is accessible from several spots in and around Penn Yan. The Outlet was once used to run steam ships between Keuka and Seneca Lakes and was a part of the Erie Canal system. Many of the old locks are still visible and along the way there are some waterfalls. There is a website keukaoutlettrail.com

The trail follows the water outlet from Keuka Lake to Seneca Lake. Rushing water, small waterfalls, quiet and an easy walk. About 6 miles one way.

If you're looking for an easy and non-cumbersome walking trail, the Keuka Outlet Trail is our favorite, flat gravel path. It runs next to a creek bed so there is certainly a peaceful ambience. Pick your starting point tactfully to see a few small old mills and small waterfalls.
