Fort Federick was built by the Portuguese and was later renovated by the Dutch. This fort was later conquered by the British when they arrived in Sri Lanka, the then Ceylon. Today, the fortress is occupied by the Sri Lankan military, but visitors are able to explore several of its ramparts.
A casual walk through shaded trees now is an Army camp but used to be the largest fort in Sri Lanka that protected the 2nd deepest harbor in the world.
Fort built by the Portuguese at Trincomalee, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka, completed in 1624 CE, built on Swami Rock-Konamamalai from the debris of the world-famous ancient Hindu Koneswaram temple.
