A day trip to see Thingvellir (a geographical wonder and Icelands oldest parliament), the beautiful Gullfoas waterfall and the famous Geysir
See erupting geysers, visit hot springs and experience the majesty of the Gullfoss Waterfall. Follow in the footsteps of Vikings on a walk down the lava canyon in Þingvellir National Park, where the American and Eurasian continents have pulled apart.
Most likely the most popular thing to do in Iceland. Highly recommended and only an hour drive from the capital.
The Golden Circle consists of three equally stunning locations in southwest Iceland: Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall. An absolute must to see while visiting Iceland. Nature at its best.
The main stops are Þingvellir national park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir. The last two stops are really close together and if you avoid the crowds and get there when it's not so busy it is really amazing to see. On the way back you can drive through a town called Hveragerði. There is a newly built hotel and food hall called Greenhouse. It's a small hipster oasis in the countryside with some great food options.
