  • Walking tour-fall in love with Zagreb
In this history based tour we will talk about recent and far history of Zagreb and Croatia including WWII, war in exYugoslavia, comunist and nazi regime etc. As master's degree historian I will try to answer all of your questions and give you croatian perspective of those interesting times in our hisotry. Meet me at Nikole Zrinjskog square in front of the meteorological pillar. At first we will explore Downtown-park Zrinjevac, the most beautiful park of Zagreb's green horseshoe, and Jelačić square, main square which is dedicated to one of the most important figure in croatian history. Our tour will continue to Zagreb's cathedral from 11th century and to Dolac-the oldest open farmer's market in the city. Just few minutes later we will reach to Tkalčićeva street, nowadays street of coffee shops, bars and pubs but also a street which hides medieval history of the city. I will take you to the shortest funicular in the world which will bring you to the Upper town of Zagreb. Tour will proceed to St.Mark's square-center of political life in Croatia, Parliament, Goverment and constitutional Court are located there, but also beautiful church of St. Mark from 13th century. A short stroll through Stone Gate, only remained gates of medieval Zagreb, will bring us back to the Main square where the tour will finish.

The tour includes not only sightseeing, you will also learn a lot on local art and exhibitions, local customs, 20th century history and linguistic influences throughout different parts of Croatia, which might give you a broader picture and context of local culture. Let's meet at King Tomislav equestrian statue in front of main railway station (Glavni kolodvor), and from there we will take a walk along the green horseshoe parks including the famous Zrinjevac, passing through Zagreb main square, visiting Kaptol and Gradec, connected by one of the most beautiful farmers markets in Europe, Dolac. While strolling through the upper town we'll pass by most famous Zagreb churches as well as Zagreb town promenade that follows the old wals of once fortified town. We'll descend from the upper town with the oldest and shortest european funicular, and then pass through the WW2 tunnel, and follow the path to Flower Square, passing through the Octogone- a 19th century building complex. From Flower square we will stroll all the way towards the Croatian National Theatre where we finish our tour. As for the safety of all participants, please wear a mask. There is aslo an option of booking the private tour for you and your friends or family, in that case just 1 person should make the booking for the whole group. Welcome and let's walk!

  • Food tour-Croatian cuisine and history
Croatian cuisine is very diverse and every region of Croatia has its own distinct culinary tradition. Its roots date back to ancient times. The differences in the selection of foodstuffs and forms of cooking are most notable between those in mainland and those in coastal regions. Mainland cuisine is more characterized by the earlier Slavic and the more recent contacts withGerman, Hungarian and Turkish cuisine, using lard for cooking, and spices such as black pepper, paprika, and garlic. The coastal region bears the influences of the Greek and Roman cuisine, as well as of the later Mediterranean cuisine, in particular Italian (especially Venetian). Coastal cuisines use olive oil, and herbs and spices such as rosemary, sage, bay leaf, oregano, marjoram, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and lemon and orange rind. As Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and we are lucky to have food from the whole country. We will visit couple of restaurants in the City center which offer traditional food and try all the specialties. I will help you with all your question about the Croatian food and history which made our cuisine so diverse.
