Working with clay is mesmerizing - and challenging. After a tour of the studio, guests will don aprons and sit down at their own wheels to "throw" up to 5 pieces. We work "hands-on," with each person to insure that you make at least 1 or 2 beautiful vessels. If you decide that you want to "finish" your pieces, there are 4 more steps: trimming, bisqueing, glaze and high-firing. The process takes about a month, and the potters at FIRESTICK will do this work for you for a fee of $15 per piece. This price includes a glazing class, if you'd like to come back within 3 months, or you may select your colors (from more than 40 finishes) and we'll glaze for you. After that, we can ship your pottery anywhere in the country. AS A SAFETY MEASURE, ALL POTTERY WORKSHOPS ARE LIMITED TO 8 PEOPLE. Wheels are placed far apart and masks are required. Our studio is "open-air" so dress appropriately! HAND-BUILDING and SCULPTING. Some guests (especially kids under 10) prefer "handbuilding," rather than "throwing on the wheel." We'll start from Santa Barbara's center - WEST BEACH! Located on the sand across from the Harbor View Inn Hotel. From there you'll get geared up with ocean kayaks, paddles, life vests, and there will be a shed to lock up belongings you prefer not to get soggy. We'll slide the kayaks into the ocean and off we'll be to explore! EACH PARTICIPANT MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM TO JOIN Call us at 805-628-2444 for other options! Most paddles include gliding along the beautiful boats docked in our harbor. From there we'll experience Sandspit, a favorite little beach perfect for catching a tender wave, taking a break, and snapping some photos. Our favorite part is showing you the adorable family of sea lions that sun bathe on a buoy out in the middle of the channel! After saying goodbye to the sea lions we'll navigate along Stearn's Warf taking in the gorgeous riviera landscape all while letting the tide push you gently back to the coast making the return paddle a breeze. Parking is free on the streets around the hotels off of Cabrillo blvd, or, if you don't mind paying there's an easy parking lot at Garden and Cabrillo to the left or south of the pier. During this 90 minute personal pottery lesson, I will teach you the basics of wheel throwing. I will first start with a short 5-7 minute demo on the wheel, giving a narrated, step by step process of throwing. After that, the rest of the hour is yours to throw! If you decided to bring a friend you will be throwing right along side each other. You will be given 2-3 one pound balls of clay to throw and attempt to make any vessel of your choice. Throughout the hour I will be your guide, helping you along the way. The goal is for you to learn, have fun, create and have something that lasts a lifetime. At the end of the lesson you will pick which of the two pieces you want fired. Any additional pieces are $8 each to cover the cost of time, supplies and shipping. After the lesson is over, the ceramic process is not done. I will then trim, fire and glaze your piece, and ship it back to you within a 4-5 week period. Come Play with Clay at Community Clayworks! Have fun and get messy as we walk you through the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel during a 2 hour lesson. Create a unique piece of pottery (or two), that will be a forever keepsake of your time in the Santa Ynez Valley. The scope of class will include everything from clay preparation, to throwing process and clean up. You will get to choose from multiple glaze color options and have your piece(s) finished for you by our staff. Your fired (finished) piece can be picked up at a later date or shipped for an additional fee. While you visit you will also receive a guided tour of the studio and the gallery/shop. We suggest bringing an apron or change of clothes just in case! Clay and tools will be provided. Please contact us directly for additional class options.

Animal and nature lovers can spend a morning or afternoon with the goats, sheep, alpaca, camel, horses, chickens, ducks, parrots, bunnies, Guinea pigs and pot belly pigs of Rancho Grande. We will visit and feed all the animals and have plenty of opportunities for photo ops. You may also opt in for horse back riding. Please specify when you book that you would like to add that on. Please keep in mind that due to the recent storms, we have had a significant amount of damage and the tour may be confined to a smaller area but still with access to all animals.

A chance to enjoy a private and intimate tea any time of the year, surrounded by nature’s beauty and in the company of an array of hummingbirds! You’ll be welcomed to a garden shaded with ancient live oaks next to a babbling creek. There is a large established hummingbird population living in the oak trees above all year around. You’ll be seated under these magnificent live oaks and will be surrounded by dozens of hummingbirds (several different species) as you observe them come and go, zooming by your ears, feeding on nearby flowers, chattering, doing incredible aerial acrobatics. They’ve gotten used to people and will go about with their antics mostly undeterred in your company. These little flying jewels will buzz all around you; they’ll hover inches away so you can both take a closer look at each other. You’ll have a chance to take some great pictures. Tea (Iced tea available in the summer) and some simple sweet treats will be served as you observe their acrobatic flight up close and learn all about them! The garden is home to numerous other bird species; some of which you will surely encounter!

Upon arrival you will be handed a smock and tongs and your choice of chocolate Bar molds. There will be a choice of White (lemon, Mango or Strawberry), Milk & Dark Chocolate to pour into your molds. Then head on over to the Toppings BAR where you'll find everything from the common to the unusual inclusion to add to your chocolate mold. Then while your Bar hardens you can customize your packaging with a variety of Art Supplies offered at little intimate tables outside in the front paseo. Then pop out your very own flavored bar, bag it, seal it and wrap it with your very own artwork. You will be in a real working, micro batch Chocolate factory, seeing all of the equipment that it takes to turn a cacao bean into a delicious Bar of Chocolate! The chocolate makers are there to show you around and ask any questions you may have about their chocolate and shop!

Upon arrival, you will greet the horses we have rescued. You will be able to participate in their care and maintenance, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and grooming. After they have been cared for, you will get to interact with the horses in their environment, and engage in other activities they enjoy most, which includes going for walks, leading them through an obstacle course, or learning how to give them a massage. You will also learn about the healing work that we do, and hear about the horses' amazing survival stories. This will be a wonderful day you will remember, and the horses may thank you with a cuddle!

First, my guests will suit up in paint suits, rain boots, goggles and gloves. Then, we pick groovy tunes to paint by. Next, I'll have a bunch of balloons filled with paint they get to use in my custom built splatter zone. With a canvas on the easel, I'll show them a few ways we get to explode paint and create exciting abstract art. With the full body suits, some people enjoy getting painted on as well or even letting their friends, family or coworkers throw paint balloons at them through the explosion screen. This experience has two main stages; on the easel, getting the painting super covered with awesome splatter and then flat on the table or ground, where we'll go full Jackson Pollock. I guide people through the whole painting adventure, while taking photos and quick videos to remember the times.

As a certified raw vegan chef and creator/owner of a fermented food company (www.Lagunaelixirs.com) , I specialize in handcrafting immunity boosting fermented foods/drinks. In this experience, I will teach the process of making kombucha through a hands-on workshop. Guests will leave with an understanding of how to brew and ferment Kombucha tea on their own with detailed instructions. Guests will arrive at my commercial kitchen and be offered tea and healthy nibbles. The class will cover a short history on fermentation and the health benefits to consuming fermented foods on a regular basis. The bulk of the class is spent preparing a gallon of kombucha for fermenting, and preparing a secondary ferment in order to flavor and add natural carbonation to the kombucha. We will go over the kombucha recipe, equipment, pro-tips, flavor-combinations and much more in detail. Guests will leave with both the starter culture liquid and Scoby culture necessary to ferment their own kombucha at home. From this starter culture, on-going batches of kombucha can be made. Guests will also take home a bottle of house made berry kombucha. This is a perfect workshop for corporate teams, team building and also wonderful for private groups and couples celebrating birthdays, family reunions, girls' night out, bridal showers etc.

Once you book your beach ride, we meet you the day of the ride at our ranch located in Summerland, CA. The beach ride is approx 90 minutes long total. We ride from our ranch through the trails down to the beach, we do cross on the over pass and there is a small section where we ride on a public road to get to and from the beach. Once we are on the beach we ride along the shore with the fresh air, cool breeze and salt water below our hooves. We then ride back through the trails to the ranch where we started. Other things to note: We do require all riders wear a helmet for safety. Please keep in mind, the ranch is a working ranch, with horses, dogs and our staff, we do have a portable restroom on-site and a picnic table. Please also note that our weight limit is 250lbs. If you book this experience and anyone in your group is over 250lbs, they will not be able to join the ride. This is for the safety of the horses and rider. We also ask that you please arrive 15 mins early to enjoy the entire experience. If you are late your group will have to leave without you as this is a group activity.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have one-on-one time with goats? See what it’s like to connect with them, by being among them and observing them up close, undisturbed? This is a small, intimate, therapeutic and relaxing experience, one that allows you to turn off and forget the outside World for a while. Research indicates that interaction with therapy animals can temporarily affect the release of various neurotransmitters in the brain. Oxytocin levels (linked with bonding) and dopamine levels (involved in the reward-motivation system) are increased, while cortisol levels (an immunosuppressant associated with stress) are decreased. They are very mild tempered and perfectly safe to be around, even for small children. You will be able to feed them treats, brush and groom them, we can also teach you how to milk them if interested (seasonally) and you will have the opportunity to try their milk. We can stay with you to answer your questions and tell you about our animals, or we can leave you with them for a private and intimate experience. Come enjoy a hike with our friendly herd of Miniature Nubian Dairy Goats at El Deseo Ranch. We are located on a 160 acre wilderness ranch in the mountains overlooking Santa Barbara. Our goats enjoy taking hikes and browsing on the natural vegetation on our property. We have several trails to choose from for beginners to more advanced hikers.
