Picturesque, Historic Villa with Island Views

Gaze over stunning 180-degree views of islands on Lago Maggiore from the expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows of this lovely, 300-year-old rustic stone villa. Antique furnishings perfectly complement the historic architecture. The house is on three floors so a fair bit of walking up and down stairs is required, also because the main bedroom is on the upper floor and the 2nd bedroom (with two single beds) and bathroom on the lowest floor. There is also a flight of stairs up from the lane below the house. It is ideal for couples and families but less so for the elderly or groups of 4 adults. First things first: what looks like a motorway on many online maps is in fact deep, deep underground and so there is no sign or sound of it from Casa Lavender (turn to earth/satellite view) What makes Casa Lavender, our three hundred year old converted farm building, so special is the amazing 180 degree view over the lake both from the house and the garden. In addition, as the house is set back from the road it is incredibly quiet even in summer. The only sound is the distant murmer of boats on the lake. Casa Lavender, situated in the tiny village of Someraro, just a couple of kilometres above Stresa, makes the ideal location for your holiday. It offers the following advantages: 180 degree views over the lake and islands, including all of Lago Maggiore's major places of interest including the three famous islands, Villa Taranto, Stresa, Villa Pallavicino and Santa Caterina Monastery; also over 50 town and village churches are visible from the house. There is a telescope in the master bedroom allowing you to check out all these sites before visiting them. Total peace and quiet, being set some 50 metres away from the road. A spacious garden with hammocks and sunbathing areas. Natural air-conditioning, meaning that even on the hottest day, the patio on the northern side of the house overlooking the lake, remains cool. A fabulous location, close enough to Stresa and its station and boats but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist town. As we used to live in Casa Lavender, it is fully equipped for families. All fixtures, fittings and furniture are European, mostly Italian and German whilst kitchenware is by Alessi, a famous local manufacturer. We provide oil, vinegar, salt, sugar, detergents etc. If you need anything extra just ask. Either I or my wife, Donatella, nearly always manage to meet and welcome guests on their arrival. We also usually try to see them again on departure. As we live locally we are more than happy to come up to the house to provide anything that is missing. We are also experts on the local area and its many attractions. The village of Someraro allows you to experience the real Italy. It is three kilometres above Stresa but much more authentic as Someraro is not a tourist village. There are two restaurants. A car is essential as the road down is quite long and steep. Casa Lavender makes the ideal location for your holiday, close enough to Stresa and its station and boats but far enough from the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist town and the lakeside road. The village has two restaurants, one of which also offers bar service (coffee and brioches etc) and even operates as a tiny shop with fresh bread, milk, butter and assorted other things. There is an early morning bus (around 8am) from Someraro to Stresa and a return bus in the afternoon. That said, Casa Lavender probably is not suitable for people relying on public transport. Guests park in and around the village, just like the locals. We do not provide parking on the property. NB. Casa Lavender is great for couples and families but probably not so suitable for two couples as the main bedroom has a double bed and offers wonderful views whereas the second bedroom has two single beds and no views. In addition, there is one proper, fully equipped bathroom, downstairs, and next to it, in the laundry room, there is a shower. Casa Lavender is the ideal place to enjoy total peace and quiet, being set some 40/50 metres away from the road surrounded by a spacious garden with sunbathing areas. Also, the natural air-conditioning (a faint breeze blowing down from a 1500 mountain) means that even on the hottest day, the patio on the northern side of the house overlooking the lake, remains cool The village of Someraro allows you to experience the real Italy. It is three kilometres above Stresa but much more authentic as Someraro is not a tourist village. There are two restaurants. A car is essential as the road down is steep. Casa Lavender makes the ideal location for your holiday, close enough to Stresa and its station and boats but far enough from the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist town and the lakeside road.

L'appartamento è completamente affacciato sul Lago Maggiore: dal balcone del soggiorno la vista spazia anche sulle Isole Borromee. E' situato a Someraro, un piccolo paese sopra a Stresa molto tranquillo e rilassante. Ha 5 posti letto. La VISTA su tutto il lago Maggiore è una delle più BELLE e complete che si possano trovare in zona. L'alloggio si trova al secondo piano di una casa di inizio novecento completamente ristrutturata. E' molto luminoso. Saremo felici di ospitarvi!
