The old Roman village of Vaison la Romaine overlooks the newer parts from a lofty height. Enjoy the weekly market and drive on to Gigondas and Vacqueyras for some wine tasting in vineyards like Domaine de Santa Duc which have been Parker-rated as some of the best in the world.

Vaison market is on a Tuesday morning and is one of the largest in Provence.

Tuesdays the market is held in Vaison. This is our favorite market. It's a large turnout, many vendors, great for picking up fabrics, keepsakes, provencal linens, and other things, as well as food. A reminder that the markets all wind down around 12 or 1, so be sure to get there in time. Vaison is an all-around must see. The Roman ruins are particularly known (and for a reason.) If you cross the river and walk up through the old castle, the views from the top (and along the small, windy roads) are unbeatable.

Vaison is a great Provencal town, which has a very well known weekly market on Tuesdays. The town has many restaurants, bars, shops, galleries and an antique theatre, plus Roman ruins to explore
