The founding of Andréhn-Schiptjenko in 1991 marked the start of a new generation of galleries in Scandinavia. Andréhn-Schiptjenko has consistently been committed to working on an international arena and to the long-term representation of emerging and established contemporary international artists from all over the world. The gallery has organized and curated exhibitions that have become seminal in the Nordic context, successfully launching the careers of Scandinavian artists such as Annika Larsson, Matts Leiderstam and Annika von Hausswolff and giving artists such as Uta Barth, Siobhán Hapaska, Nandipha Mntambo and Xavier Veilhan their first European or Scandinavian one-person exhibition.
