Notre-Dame-du-Montauban: le campement Mont Otis borde le sentier Montauban, section Mauricienne du Sentier National du Québec, sentier de randonnée pédestre, de raquette et de ski nordique totalisant 1,650km. Canot et kayak sur réservation à l’entreprise ExitNature.

Do not miss the views at Mont Otis from the top of its summit at 325 meters altitude, see this whole region of green hills, with the Batiscan river at your feet, lakes and vast forests of the most beautiful effect in autumn. In its long version (11.5 km), the trail begins in the village of Notre-Dame-de-Montauban and ends at the Pointe-du-Canotier parking lot. We first walk along the west bank of the river admiring the falls before crossing them via a footbridge. The gradual ascent then takes place in the forest to the summit. You can also choose the short version, a loop of 3.4 kilometers that begins at the Cohabitat Mont Otis campsite. A good climb and here we are on a rocky cape, at the end of the ascent, to fully enjoy the scenery. On the summit itself, which is largely bare, our feet tread beautiful white quartz. After the visual escape from the heights, a short descent into the forest awaits us. Free to access, this trail is a real gem. Vas voire le magnifique Mont Otis Du haut de son sommet à 325 mètres d’altitude, on domine toute cette région de collines verdoyantes, avec la rivière Batiscan à nos pieds, des lacs et de vastes forêts du plus bel effet en automne. Dans sa version longue (11,5 km), le sentier commence au village de Notre-Dame-de-Montauban et finit au stationnement de la Pointe-du-Canotier. On longe d’abord la rive ouest de la rivière en admirant les chutes avant de les traverser via une passerelle. La montée progressive se fait ensuite en forêt jusqu’au sommet. On peut aussi choisir la version courte, une boucle de 3,4 kilomètres qui commence au camping Cohabitat Mont Otis. Une bonne grimpée et nous voilà sur un cap rocheux, à la fin de l’ascension, pour profiter à plein du paysage. Sur le sommet lui-même, qui est largement dénudé, nos pieds foulent du magnifique quartz blanc. Après l’échappée visuelle des hauteurs, une courte descent email en forêt nous attend. D’accès gratuit, ce sentier est un véritablepetit bijou.
