You have to utilize this ferry system to get to Ocracoke unless you are arriving by private airplane or boat.

Take the ferry to Ocracoke Island and explore the shops, historic sites, and beach. Eat lunch at Howard’s Pub. The ride is free and takes about an hour. The terminal is minutes away.
