A charming café and the museum of the life and works of sculptor Emil Wikström (1864-1942) and his grandson, cartoonist Kari Suomalainen (1920-1999). Visavuori has three buildings: Emil Wikström's home, his studio, and Kari's Pavilion. Visavuori is situated in Sääksmäki village, in the city of Valkeakoski.
Visavuori is about 20 km from Iittala to direction Tarttila/Sääksmäki (Visavuorentie 80). www.visavuori.com. Famous Finnish sculptor Emil Wikström (1864-1942) created this unique and beautiful environment with his ateljée, familyhouse and garden. Nature and view above the lakeside is great! The old museum also has a wonderfull café/lunchplace caled Vaniljahelmi (vanillapearl) and everything I have ever tasted there is delicious. Also other exhibitions in the Kari-paviljong which is dedicated to a cartoonist/satir-artist Kari Suomalainen. Unfortunately this new building is a good example of architectury gone wrong in a traditional landscape..
