Choices is a Kenyan pub filled with tables and lit with moody red lighting. The walls are covered with old pictures of legendary musicians, and on Thursday they have an event called Thursday Night Live where they showcase a whole range of bands from the region including Kenya, Tanzania or Rwanda. This is a great place to catch more traditional music styles so if you’re looking for local, traditional-style bands this is the place to come. Wear comfy shoes when you come here because it can get busy and you might end up standing for a chunk of the night.

For a more relaxed approach to Nairobi nightlife, choose one of the city’s many bars where T-shirts and flip-flops are always welcome. Choices Pub offers sports on big screens, pool tables, and typical pub grub to the accompaniment of hits from the 1980s and '90s. Wednesdays are soul nights, live music takes center stage on Thursdays, and DJs spin records until the early hours on Friday and Saturday. Located near the National Stadium in the city center, Choices is open from noon to 3 a.m.
