Nice quiet beach for a swim or snorkel, with a large coal loader jetty making an attractive icon for the beach
Catherine Hill Bay is a secluded and sleepy old mining village in the hinterland behind the Central Coast within the City of Lake Macquarie. The beach is a unspoilt place to relax, walk swim or surf. The beach is patrolled from the September school holidays to April. If you want to eat lunch or dinner head to the charming heritage-listed Catho Pub. The pub has a real Aussie feel. It’s the only place you can have a meal in this village. There’s life music on weekends and a little play area for kids.

This historic little village is surrounded by gorgeous beaches and coastal walks with amazing rock pools. A now disused jetty still stands which once serviced the local coal mine. The Catho Pub has great food and live entertainment over the weekend.
