The Antonine wall built by the Romans stretches from Coast to coast and served as a barrier during the Romans failed conquest to conquer Scotland and bring into the Roman empire which had extended to England.

Sections of the Antonine Wall have pathways to follow in the footsteps of the Romans! Information panels give some of the history and a hike along the wall can be combined with a stroll along the canal path.

The Antonine Wall, named after the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius, was constructed by the Roman Army in AD142. It was the northern-most frontier of the Roman Empire. Parts of the wall are still visible today.
