A a fine example of late 18th century Great House construction in Jamaica and the finest antique museum in the Caribbean.
Built in the 19th century, Greenwood Great House is over 200 years old. It’s a Georgian styled, 25 room mansion. It still has its original library which boasts some rare 1st Editions dating back to 1697. There are many antiques. Enjoy the combination of history, colonial architecture and the beautiful grounds with panoramic views of the Caribbean sea.
This marvelous estate, sitting high on a hill, may not have Rose Hall's fame, but offers a far more intimate and interesting experience.
The historic integrity of the property has been maintained by Bob and Ann Betton since 1976 when they first opened the museum to the public. Since opening, Greenwood has received numerous awards including the Musgrave medal for excellence in heritage preservation, the National Association of Returning Residents plaque and the Berger Paints Heritage in Architecture award. Additionally, Greenwood Great House is a national monument.
