Wonderful nature walk. Ria do Alvor, a pristine estuary located on the Algarve coast of Portugal, is a natural haven teeming with biodiversity and scenic beauty. This expansive wetland stretches between the quaint towns of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande, offering a rich mosaic of salt marshes, mudflats, and sandbanks that create a vital habitat for numerous bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. The estuary's tranquil waters and surrounding landscapes provide a serene environment for various outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along well-maintained boardwalks and trails that meander through the estuarine landscape, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding countryside. The area is also popular for kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing, allowing explorers to immerse themselves in the calm waters and observe the abundant marine life up close. Ria do Alvor's ecological importance cannot be overstated. It serves as a crucial breeding ground and stopover point for migratory birds, including flamingos, herons, and ospreys. The diverse flora, ranging from sea lavender to glasswort, adds to the estuary's ecological richness, supporting a complex food web that sustains both terrestrial and marine species. In addition to its natural allure, the estuary's proximity to charming villages and historical sites enriches the visitor experience. Alvor, with its cobbled streets, traditional fishing boats, and vibrant markets, offers a glimpse into the region's cultural heritage. Nearby, the Megalithic Monuments of Alcalar provide an intriguing look into prehistoric times. Ria do Alvor stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of nature and human activity, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquility, adventure, and a deep connection with nature.

são vários kilómetros de passadiço ao longo da praia do Alvor e Ria que vale a pena percorrer e usufruir. Na lagoa vê-se várias embarcações junto à aldeia do Alvor e na direcção de Lagos praticantes de windsurf e kite surf.
