A beautiful state park that has a lot of river history with the Rose island Amusement park for the 1930s. Walk trials that show pictures of back in the times of the roaring 30s. Must be able to walk a steep hill back from the river. 1 hr from the property.
This is an incredible park to go to if you want to seek some hiking with great scenery!
Charlestown State Park has some light-mod hiking trails. Its about 30 min from Louisville. My favorite is the Rose Island trail, which is actually the only paved route. It goes to Rose Island, and you can walk among the remnants of a by-gone error: the pool, the ferry boat landing...very cool!
The trails through this wonderful riverside forest lead to some amazing finds. There are rock formations, waterfalls, bridges, and old brick structures scattered throughout the place, and it is so much fun to explore. It is located in Clark County at 12500 IN-62, Charlestown, IN 47111.
