The offbeat Marigny district is known for its Cajun bistros, bohemian bars and jazz clubs, especially along Frenchmen Street. Sidewalk musicians and brass bands add a block party vibe to the nighttime Frenchmen Art Market, which sells local artwork and handicrafts. Quieter spots include Washington Square where the lawns are shaded by old oak trees. The Marigny Opera House offers an eclectic program

The "coolest" of all NOLA neighborhoods, in our opinion. Even though it's become a rather expensive destination, it's still bohemian and counter-culture in its own way. Frenchmen Street music clubs are great, too, even post-pandemic!
Just across from the French Quarter, lots of low key music clubs on Frenchmen Street. Also along St. Claude Avenue a few great spots worth checking out - Hi Ho, Always Lounge, Carnaval and more.
A beautiful old neighborhood in New Orleans with tons of character and lots to see as you walk around. You'll run into shops, restaurants, coffee shops and I'm sure a lot of locals too.
Faubourg Marigny and Bywater are two side-by-side neighborhoods on the edge of the Mississippi River in the lower ninth ward. The neighborhood is known for Cajun eateries, jazz bars, colorful street art, and a funky vibe. Street performers, brass bands, and local artists add to the artsy, colorful aura of Faubourg Marigny and Bywater. Plenty of eclectic art galleries, live music venues, and trendy bars are found here. There is also a foodie scene that ranges from casual, delicious fare to upscale, award-winning restaurants. Bywater American Bistro is a lively restaurant with a healthy dose of southern hospitality serving brunch, craft libations, and more. Mimi’s In The Marigny serves Spanish tapas and classic cocktails in a laid-back atmosphere with pool tables and a balcony with a view of Royal Street.
