Starting in the ’90s, painter, muralist and sculptor Salvador Gonzalez Escalona worked on reimagining downtown’s Hamel Alley, at the corner of Aramburu and Hospital, until he had transformed it into a vibrant mosaic monument to Cuba’s AfroCuban culture. Watch for more from Salvador. His next, larger goal is to fan out from the alley and revitalize the surrounding Cayo Hueso neighborhood with artwork, changing people’s perception of it as a poor and violent place along the way.

For veggies and fruits you need an Agro Mercado (Agro market), similar to a farmer's market. There are some at Vedado. For example: Street 19 between B and C ; Street 17 between F and G and Street 17 and K.. Buying anything at an agromercado is a way easier if you have a Cuban with you.
