Amersham station

The Metropolitan line has always seemed a class above the rest of the Underground lines. It was the very first section of the Underground and feels more like a mainline railway even to this day. Make the most of that Oyster card (the Underground daily travel pass) by riding all the way out to Amersham for a rural day in the Chilterns rolling wooded hills. Catch the right train on the way and you’ll ride along a curve of track on the Metropolitan line that isn’t marked on the tube map. It runs between Rickmansworth and Croxley and now serves just two trains a day, one at about 6 am from Rickmansworth to Watford and one at 11 pm in the other direction.
