When I think of hiking, I don’t typically think of botanical gardens, but this huge in-city park has multiple trails and so much to offer. Nearly all of the park is free to see, so there’s no need to pay to see the Japanese botanical garden, however that’s quite beautiful, too. In the main park (not the Japanese garden) you can hike out to Lake Washington and continue on a lake trail over floating pedestrian bridges, as well.

4.5 miles away ~ An oasis on the shores of Lake Washington ~ 230 acres with beautiful collection of plants. Wander through the many trails. Also on the grounds, the Japanese Garden (with entrance fee).
Stunning 230-acre preserve lovingly managed by the University of Washington. Rare and beautiful tree and flower species abound and don’t miss the Japanese garden within.
Arboretum is a public park jointly managed by the City of Seattle and the University of Washington. It’s a 20 mins walk from the suite and is about 4 miles round trip if you decide to loop around the park and back to the suite. The park has various interconnected trails that provide you with a very wide selection of trees and wildlife. I highly recommend exploring the park without a map and just feeling your way through it on a nice afternoon.
