A great place to research those involved in war and peace missions as part of your family history and see displays and attend the last post. (9 min drive or pleasant walk). The artworks by war artists is probably the best part!

You will spend at least 3 hours at the Australian War Memorial here. I would allow for more time if you can.

Spend a day exploring the Australian War Memorial. The Australian War Memorial is Australia's national memorial to the members of its armed forces and supporting organisations who have died or participated in wars involving the Commonwealth of Australia and some conflicts involving personnel from the Australian colonies prior to Federation.

One of Australia’s best museums, and a very special place. Learn about the Australian experience of war through the remarkable collection of objects, art, and military technology. Opportunities to take a guided tour a s research your own family’s war history. Be sure to stay for the moving Last Post Ceremony at the end of the day.
