Offering a look into Kansas History from 5,000 B.C. to today, and a 2.5 mile nature trail looping thru several prairie and wooded areas. These trails are beginner friendly for walkers and bikers alike.

Located on SW Sixth Avenue, the Kansas Museum of History is a state history museum and one of the best things to do in Topeka, Kansas. The Kansas Historical Society was founded in 1875, and its first home was in the Kansas State Capitol building.

This award-winning museum tells the story of the people of Kansas. See the Santa Fe's oldest surviving locomotive, No. 132, from 1880. A. K. Longren's 1914 version of the plane in which he made the first successful flight of a Kansas-built plane in 1911. Named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas History. A state history museum, it presents Kansas history from the prehistoric to modern eras in 30,000 square feet of exhibits.
