If you come to Norway to see the nature and miss out on seeing the rich animal life, or want a closer look, you should visit the Norwegian Forestry Museum and see all the furry animals, birds and lots of more interesting wildlife sceneries explained in both norwegian and english.
Very nice indoor and outdoor-museum with local animals, hunting and forestry topics. Connected by bridges to Glomdalsmuseet which displays buildings and ways of life from former centuries
Elverum is 50 minutes away by car. The 'Forest museum' - or 'Skogbruksmuseet' is really interesting for families with children due to the interactivity and animal displays, it's quite cheap, and it has a really big summertime outside area which makes it relaxing for families with small kids.
Great indoor and outdoor museum. (The national forestry museum). Very nice to walk by the river Glomma. There is a path/cycle and walking by the river from Central Elverum towards Norsk Skogmuseum (museum of Forestry). From the museum there is a path with two bridges towards Glomdalsmuseet (an outdoor museum) on the other side of the river.
