The Chapel of São Sebastião (St. Sebastian) dates back to the 15th/16th centuries & is located in the northern part of the town next to the beaches of Algodio and São Sebastião. The monument’s current architecture exhibits different elements from different periods, the altar dates 1567, the tiles from the 17th-century cover the chapel’s interior. For several years, at the end of January, Festivities in honour of S. Sebastião and S. Vicente are held around the chapel being at times the largest celebration in the town and surrounding areas. Today, the festivities are known as the Feast of the Drunks and hundreds of people get together on the chapel street dancing, eating and drinking.
