Located 23 km from De Velde Estate experience De Trafford Winery situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm set at the top of a dramatic valley above Stellenbosch, 380m up between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, right at the end of the Blaauwklip road, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West. The first of its kind in South Africa! Straw Wine (Vin Paille). Chenin Blanc grapes are laid out to dry on racks ( or straw ) under the shade of the oak trees. This gentle raising process concentrates the sugar, acidity and fruit flavors to produce a luscious, sweet dessert wine. Fermented and matured in mostly new French oak barrels.
