Wander through the beautiful university quarter. Stop for a pint in the St Machar bar as generations of students have done, or pick up coffee and a cake from The Shelter cafe. Stroll down to St Machar cathedral and Seaton park via the Arboretum and return via the Zoological museum
Old Aberdeen is packed full of interesting buildings, museums to visit, parks and gardens and places to pause and grab a coffee, or something stronger. The best bit is that it is everything is close together, so you can walk along pretty cobblestoned streets, then meander through some of Aberdeen’s most cherished green areas. Its home to Aberdeen University and a trip to Old Aberdeen wouldn't be complete without visiting St Machar Cathedral, Seaton Park, Brig O' Balgownie, Powis Gate and Kings College. A modern addition to the area is the Sir Duncan Rice Library which is an architectural wonder and worth seeing both from the outside and the inside.

This area is wonderful, there is something really special and charming about this place... Perhaps it's because it is home to one of the oldest universities in the UK. Take your time to stroll the streets and alleyways, get lost and take it all in. I hope the sun is shining for your visit! :D
Nice for a stroll around . Aberdeen University (one of the oldest in the UK) is here, and some of Aberdeen's oldest buildings and houses are too. A walk along the Chanonry and round St Machar's Cathedral is a great way to spend an afternoon. If you fancy a bigger walk, head into Seaton park and take a walk along side the Don river and up to The Brig o' Balgownie (Bridge of Balgownie) one of the oldest stone bridges in the UK, you get a great view of the river Don from here.
