The Basilica Cistern in Istanbul is a large cistern located between Hagia Sophia and Cağaloğlu. The cistern, which was built to meet the water needs of the city in the ancient times, is only among the historical monuments and is presented to the view of the visitors, even if there is water in it today.
It was the biggest water supply of Istanbul. Now, it’s one of the most important Museum of İstanbul with artistic sculptures.
