DescriptionThe Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St Nicholas, commonly known as Galway Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Galway, Ireland, and one of the largest and most impressive buildings in the city. Construction began in 1958 on the site of the old city prison.
Although this cathedral only dates from 1965 it has already become one of the must see places in Galway. Be sure to photograph it from every vantage point across the river. Inside has an air of calm from the hustle and bustle of Shop street.
