James Baird State Park is situated on Pleasant Valley farmland once owned by James Baird, a contractor and engineer whose firm constructed the Lincoln Memorial. The golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, was officially opened in 1948. The 18-hole course is relatively flat and the par 5 13th hole is one of the most challenging in the Hudson Valley. In addition to the golf course, the park also boasts a driving range, pro shop, clubhouse, restaurant and snack bars at the 1st and 10th holes.
