The Glacial Potholes began to form after the last glacier age when the Deerfield River first started to flow over these rocks, about 14,000 years ago. Visit after a rainfall to wonder at the majesty of nature.
The potholes are a natural formation that formed over thousands of years when rocks carved out circular formations in softer stone under the force of the Deerfield river. It used to be open to the public for bathers, but is no longer for safety reasons. You can still view it from an overlook. There’s a dam and waterfall above the formation.
