This is a truly secret gem. It's a hidden trail in a hidden ravine that ends up down by beautiful Alki beach. This is one of my favorites, but it can be hard to find.
hike this trail through Schmitz Park to reach Alki Beach. Rare preserved valley in our neighborhood with old growth trees, ferns, and streams. explore the trails, walk on fallen logs, you might even see an owl or a bat! this is a rare treasure.
Schmitz Park, also known as Schmitz Preserve Park, is a 53.1-acre park around 15 blocks east of Alki Point in West Seattle, Washington. It features Schmitz Park Creek and one of the last stands of old-growth forest in the city.
The unique city park provides woodland trails for jogging, walking or mountain biking. Magnificent Old Growth Trees and a year round stream create a magical in-city woodland experience. A short 15 minute walk or jog through the park will eventually lead to the Alki Beach waterfront.
