Hollybank Treetops Adventures is a great day out for families. They have a ropes course for various abilities, segway tours and a zip line course. It would pay to check the minimum age for participation and I would suggest calling ahead to book. I have done a couple of the ropes courses and I found it terrifying but my husband and kids had a ball! Take a picnic with you, there's a nice spot to sit near the ropes course.

Zip lining through the treetops is just as exciting as it sounds. Risky? Yes, but this is so well managed that you get all of the fun and none of the danger. The forest is also a fabulous place for a ramble or a bike ride.
