1 hour+ drive, a feasible day trip. Variety of walks depending on ability. Kinder Scout will take you to the highest point of the Peaks. Easier/flat walks include Monsal trail. Also towns /villages if you prefer not to walk, with restaurants, cafés and shops available. This includes Buxton (famous for its water) and Bakewell (don't forget to treat yourself to a Bakewell tart..!)

Welcome to the Peak District, your ultimate guide to where to go, what to do and where to stay. The Peak District is one of the UK's most visited national parks spanning around 555 square miles. The most common activities include walking in the Peak District, the wide ranges of places to visit, climbing, caving, and camping.

The first National park in the UK is just 5 minutes drive away. We particularly like.. *Longshaw Estate - National Trust cafe, clearly marked routes of different distances some including beautiful Padley Gorge (10 min drive) *Mam Tor ridge walk - incredible views without too much effort! Near Edale which is definitely worth a visit - very pretty with cafes, pub and visitor centre (30 min drive) *Frogatt Edge and Stanedge Edge - incredible rock escarpments with world renowned climbing and bouldering opportunities. Great walks and views *Hassop Station cafe and bike hire - near Bakewell on the Monsal Trail, a disused railway line. Miles of traffic free cycling in beautiful Peak District scenery (30 min drive)
