Oldest pub in Bowness - 16th century, full of character, good live music on some weekends.
We set off from didsbury at 4pm and sat in bumper to bumper traffic until junction 15, at 4.40, we made it to the horwich junction 6 by 5pm, got stuck in traffic at Preston when the m61 joins the m6 (it’s always busy here). And arrived about 6.30. Open road, sunshining and me drinking corona riding shotgun. I love this pub, having visited it with family before and the food is good pub grub. It’s the oldest pub in Windermere and you need to be introduced to it as you wouldn’t necessarily find it. I met up with my Australian friend here recently who I haven’t seen for 6 years . She chose groove armada super stylish as her favourite song. We went to see them together too, before I had children, on a school night at the warehouse project in central Manchester. I drove of course , but it still felt rebellious going out on a school night. It costs £2.75 for half a Guiness and £20 for fish and chips in the Albert, Robinsons pub on the roundabout and the angel is also a favourite haunt. You can park for the day close to the lake for £8 a day.
