Plunge right back on roman times. This site is very well preserved. See the old Via Appia that is well preserved.
Ancient city of the Messapii, a lapygian tribe who inhabited Salento in classical antiquity. The first settlement known in the place dates from the Bronze Age (15th century BC). The place is famous for the discoveries made in its tombs. A considerable collection of antiquities from Gnatia is preserved at Fasano, though the best are in the museum at Bari.
The archaeological park of Egnazia is certainly among the most interesting archaeological sites in the Puglia region. Located along the Adriatic coast near today's Fasano, in a very suggestive landscape, the archaeological park of Egnazia shows testimonies ranging from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages.
