Flåmsbana - see visitflam dot com - was named the best train ride in the world by Lonely Planet Traveller Guide in 2014. Climbing 865 meters in one hour it presents some very scenic views.
Flåmsbana gives you insight into the construction of the world's steepest railway line, the technical development and the people behind the impressive railway art. The museum tells the story of Flåmsbana and about everyday life in Flåm as well as railway operations on the Bergen line
The Flåm Railway has been described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world and is one of the leading tourist attractions in Norway. The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. The journey features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of Western Norway.
The Railway museeum, free entrance, location: middle fo Flåm. Worth a visit.
The railroad from Flåm til Nyrdal presents some amazing scenery. While in Flåm you can visit the ÆGIR Brewery and try some great local food and beer. I would also recommend that you take a boat trip to Nærøyfjorden/Aurlandsfjorden, named the most beautiful fjord in the wolrd on several occations. If you are based in Bergen you can travel to Flåm by train, bus or boat. Train/bus takes approx. 2 hrs. Also take the sightseeing bus to the outlook point at Stegasteinen - great view overlooking the Fjord and Flåm.
