The 486-foot-tall, 7,780-foot-long Sidney Lanier Bridge, US 17, spanning the Brunswick River is Gerogia's tallest cable-stayed bridge. Connecting Brunswick on the mainland to St. Simons and Jekyll Islands, it resembles a huge sailing ship and it is a beautiful sight to see.
The view is spectacular at the top of this beautiful bridge. There is a designated lane for walking or riding a bike. I have done both many times and it never gets old...or easy! ha! FYI: It is Georgia’s tallest cable-stayed suspension bridge. 486 feet tall and 7,780 feet long ( 1.5 miles!) One of my favorite spots is actually Under the bridge! There is a park turn-off, just on the east side of the bridge. You can go all the way to the end, there is a boat ramp and some covered tables to stop and have a snack, right beside the water, all in the shadow of the big bridge!
