Waihi Beach is a hub of activity, shops, cafes, beach, surfing, bars, it has it all. Here are a few of my top tips for eating out. You have a choice of cafes and restaurants. One that stands out is Flat White, right on the beach with the best views, great menu, and counter food. Allpress coffee but you do have to ask for a double shot. Open for breakfast to dinner. Secret Garden is in the heart of the town, it's like a tropical garden oasis with a Mexican twist. Great coffee, good cocktails and their food is Mexican street style. Counter food is great and the scones are the best in town. They have DJ's on the weekends. The Waihi Beach Surf Club has the best and cheapest bacon butties, sit on the deck with the best views of the beach. They have a small menu but it's great for burgers, chips, toasties. Open only for the summer from Labour weekend to the end of March. Waihi Beach RSA: Up on the hill and the best views in town and you cant beat a great roast lunch or dinner. Extensive menu for everyone and a great space to enjoy with the kids. Pool tables, darts, and bands most weekends.

Whilst Katikati is a costal town, we only have estuaries as apposed to sandy surf beaches. For that I recommend taking a scenic 30 minute drive over to Waihi Beach or Mount Maunganui. Waihi Beach is on one of New Zealand's safest surf beaches and home to a bustling beachside community. A destination for outdoor adventure, relaxation, weddings and good old-fashioned beach holiday time. Waihi Beach has also become a sought after destination for boutique shopping and dining, with Flat White Cafe on the beachfront a local favourite.

Good for a bite to eat. Keep an eye out for live gigs in weekends and especially over summer time.
