When you want British, seasonal and grown-up, you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll enjoy a meal at the Grill at the Dorchester. Yes, Alain Ducasse’s three-Michelin-star restaurant is next door, but the good news is his protégé Guillaume Katola oversees the menu here (and, shhhh, it’s two-thirds of the price). It’s grand without being intimidating, with Murano chandeliers, oak parquet flooring, butterscotch leather seats and never-wrinkled tablecloths. Everything sparkles, particularly the food and the on-the-ball staff. The richest roast grouse, the creamiest mashed potatoes, the crispiest giant Yorkshire puddings... and the only restaurant in London to have a dedicated sweet-soufflé menu.
